<span style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;"> <span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><b>Let me start off by saying this, </b></span></span><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; line-height: 26px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><b>this race humbled me.</b></span></span><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 26px;"> </span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;">It was a great event. The location of the race was held at an </span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;">abandoned airfield in Mt. Dora, Florida. The weather was perfect, it did wind up raining for a bit but I didn't mind it too much because it cooled me off and didn't last very long. There were several events that went on that day. A 5 miler race, a half marathon 13.1 miles, marathon 26.2 miles, a 50k equaling 32+ miles, and the ultra marathon 52+ miles. Initially i signed up to participate in this event because I plan on competing in the </span><a href="http://www.meetup.com/The-407-Fitclub/events/214359822/" style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;"><b>T3 - Tough Training Trials</b></span></a><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"> on </span>December<span style="font-family: inherit;"> 13th. <span style="color: blue;"><b><i>(C</i></b></span><b><i><span style="color: blue;"><a href="http://jasonlvazquez.blogspot.com/2014/11/t3-buds-edition-with-battlefrog.html" target="_blank">lick here for T3Training Blo</a><u>g)</u></span></i> </b>As an affiliate event, one of the bonuses offered for participants of the T3 is the opportunity to do the T3 "ruckless" upon completion of rucking the 50 mile Masters of all Terrain Ultra Marathon. I </span>figured<span style="font-family: inherit;"> i would take my chances. I mean, why not right? The T3 is sure to be a difficult event, very physically demanding, and anything I can do to make it somewhat easier I'd take that chance. So i signed up. Not really paying any attention to the fact that an ultra is 50 miles long. I am gonna be honest, to say I was nervous is a huge </span>understatement<span style="font-family: inherit;">. I have never ran that distance before, nor have I trained for a distance that long. </span></span></div>

They put on a very impressive event. </span>Usually<span style="font-family: inherit;"> with these OCR's there's always something that's off. Some events </span>more so<span style="font-family: inherit;"> than others. This specific day I couldn't find anything to complain about. The course was marked out perfectly. There was no confusion, signs were all clear and course markings were </span>noticeable<span style="font-family: inherit;"> enough not to be turned in the wrong direction. The water stations were perfectly placed and fully stocked with not only water, but electrolytes, saltine crackers, animal crackers, pretzels, bananas and a bunch more. The volunteers all kicked ass too. they were supportive encouraging, and knowledgeable about the event, the course and </span>everything<span style="font-family: inherit;"> else. Kickass a+ double marthon if i ever seen one.</span></span></div>

We </span>didn't<span style="font-family: inherit;"> actually go off until 1am. Neil Liz and I strapped on our gear, and stepped out onto the course with a light jog for about the first 2 - 2 1/2 miles until we caught up with Randolph. Then led a pretty steady marching pace of 11min miles after that. We setup all the water stations along the way to help out on the </span>course<span style="font-family: inherit;"> and we bombarded by the sounds of baboons gators owls panthers and whatever the heck else was out there that we just </span>couldn't<span style="font-family: inherit;"> see. So that was probably motivation enough to keep a good pep on our steps along the way. The terrain was pretty good at most parts until we reached a sign saying- "Your going the wrong way. Turn around." It was a street sign not a course marking but you could clearly see the course marking leading us down this horribly dark path that will forever be remembered to some of us as Hell Miles. Miles 7.5 - 10. Being the first set of people to actually set foot on this terrain for this event, it was difficult to say the least. The grass was still raised, and thick I fell into a huge pothole that my headlamp failed to illuminate almost </span>impaling<span style="font-family: inherit;"> myself with my regiment flag. It </span>didn't<span style="font-family: inherit;"> make it any better that we were surrounded by this high brush that clouded any moonlight helping us see and swallowing the light from our headlamps. Every step was work because the grass seemed to be holding your feet back trying to prevent you from going any further. And the distance, wow. It seemed like it took forever to get thru that. After we broke thru it was </span>smooth<span style="font-family: inherit;"> snailing after that between mile 10-12. We reach mile marker 12 & we confidently tell eachother we did it just another couple minutes and we </span>finished<span style="font-family: inherit;"> the first lap! Huh. Thats what we thought.. no way in HELL that after mile marker 12, it was only 1.1 miles to the finish line! I call bullcrap on that for real! It must have took us a good 20 minutes </span></span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;">of saying "the landing strip should be around this corner", only to be severely disappointed. Either way lap 1 was done in 3:48. Lap 2 and 3 were smooth enough the sun started coming out about the middle of lap 2 and the racers had already started on the course. We were flooded by love and words of encouragement by just about everyone that passed by which was awesome. You gotta love</span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;"> the OCR community. By the end of lap 3 I struggled over to my tent, went to change my sneakers to my Reebok All Terrain Supers which I left out to dry after lap 2. As soon as i took my Vibrams off to change my sneakers, I noticed how swollen my feet were, and how many blisters i had on my legs from rucking thru so many ant hills. they tore my legs up and i had a pretty bad allergic reaction. My knees were swollen mainly because they weren't used to those types of distances and carrying that much weight for so long. Also I noticed what WASN'T in the tent. <b><a href="http://www.facebook.com/neilmurp" target="_blank">Neil Murphy</a></b>. Thinking to myself man he is still out there doing his thing, I can't let my group down. I have traveled all this way, and no matter what happens I will still be in pain tomorrow, so why not have something to talk about. </span><span style="background-color: white;">I'm not going to stop until I get what I came for</span>. My sponsor gave me words of encouragement before I left<br />

and also upped the anty by telling me that IF I complete this event, then he will not only pay for my registration, but he will also donate for every mile completed to the charity he knows i am a supporter of. Aids Awareness. #OneStepForRED That was definitely my biggest motivation to look beyond my pain and STFU and getter done. I sucked it up and got back out on the course. I knew i would more than likely be one of the last ones out there but i didn't care. I wasnt gonna stop. There's no quit in me. I swallowed all my pain and worries and relied solely on will power and determination to get me thru the last lap. I drowned out all the sounds around me and fully engulfed myself in my music. I can go on and on about how a million things went thru my head on this last lap, even the questioning of life itself, but I'll spare you guys the details HAHA<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/XwMRUBJtGqU" width="420"></iframe> I traversed thru terrain that has became all too familiar for me by that time, and by every ounce of heart I pulled thru it to the end. It was an amazing feeling coming around that last turn and still seeing lights out on the course and seeing that no one left me.. Yea that went thru my head as well. I was greeted by Neil right before the finish line and he notified me that we were the only 2 in the ruck division to finish, I was like WHAT??!! that was cool. Like I said tho all in all a great event, a great cause i ran for, and happy to have completed it.<br />

I met Neil last year searching around for a Spartan Race Championship viewing party. The Spartan Race website suggested several locations for viewings in my area and it just so happened his was the closest one.</div>

I'm thinking along the lines of maybe a bar or restaurant, with a whole bunch of loud, beer drinking, shot chasing, MUDRUNFUN OCR-junkies. What I got instead was soo much more magical and the start of new long- lasting friendships and a breakthrough in the plateau I have reached in my training. I live exactly 2.37 miles away from where this viewing party was to be hosted so I figured it would be good if I ran there and get a little cardio in before the festivities. I strapped on my ipod, gps and left. The GPS brought me to a Neighborhood REC center and I see a group of guys standing there one of which is Neil holding a Team Regiment flag. I immediately recognized him from previous races I've attended and images of him passing by me at the Superhero Scramble in Clermont 2013 flashed in my head. Now we had spoke briefly on Facebook and he came right up to me and greeted me, and nonchalantly said I hope your ready. (never forget that).. I scoffed it off a little and said something along the lines of BRING IT ON! Meanwhile thinking sheesh, I can handle whatever you guys dish out.... NOOBS.. LOL Boy was I in for a treat because this wasn't only just a viewing party where we get together and hang out, this was a T2 Training session.</span></span></span><br />

Thinking, man I'm a Beachbody Coach. I live and breathe health & fitness. I DO this... whats the worst that could happen? We started off with water PT. Now as simple as that sounds, I assure you, it's not. At least for me it wasn't. I have never (then) incorparated ANY type of water exercise into my workout regiment. So I went into it too cocky and exerted an enormous amount of energy in the water. Straight after the water PT, we went for an OCR themed run around the neighborhood doing various forms of PT along the way. All in all I had a good experience, met some great friends, and was the start of a new variation to my fitness journey. From then on I would join RR for weekly training sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. These workouts consist of everything from sprint training, to mock OCR runs, distance runs, rucking, walking, burpees, lunges etc.. Recently <b>The 407 Fitclub</b> has teamed up with <b>Team Regiment</b> to not only provide a variation in workout routines, but to also introduce its members to the beautiful world of OCR (obstacle course racing) , Rucking, and so much more.</div>

One thing that I personally like, that separates this event from any other I have ever done is the Pre-race Challenges. I enjoy the fact that you get a hell of alot more than just a couple hours worth of "event". Now although I'm sure there are other events out there that do this as well, this is the first I have seen.There are challenges that can be done prior to the day of the event that can greatly alter your fate on that day. It test' your commitment to the event itself. It shows you who the TRUE team players are within the registrants, who can be relied on, where your teammates strengths/weaknesses lie, and it weeds out the potential bad apples that will do more harm to the team progress than help. I have never participated in events that do this, and it is what primarily peaked my interest in the T3. Now that I said that lets get into a bit more depth of these challenges.the perks, good & bad, and what my thoughts are on the overseeing process of it.<br />

<strong>Shakeology mentions “whole-food ingredients”—what does this mean? How can it be possible when it’s ground to a powder?</strong></div>

Shakeology uses several whole-food sources of nutrients, rather than using only synthetic extracts or isolates (like some multivitamin pills). The benefit of whole-food derived ingredients is that the nutrients are preserved as close to their natural state as possible and are therefore delivered to your body in the most holistic way possible. Your body will better absorb and more efficiently use the nutrients from whole-food sources. The process of converting a food from its natural state to a powder, if done incorrectly, can destroy the nutrients in that food. With Shakeology, we ensure the highest levels of nutrients are preserved through strict temperature-controlled drying and processing.</div>

<strong>Why is there fructose in Shakeology?</strong> To give Shakeology its great taste and for a balanced, well-rounded macronutrient profile we've used fructose. Fructose is a natural sugar found in fruit and some vegetables. The good thing about fructose--as opposed to glucose (table sugar) or high-fructose corn syrup (chemically altered sugar)-- is that it is very low on the glycemic index (GI). Unfortunately, no. Fresh fruits and vegetables will always be important for a healthy, balanced diet. Shakeology can help you fill in the nutritional gaps that occur when you’re too busy to eat the right balance of fruits and veggies. Plus, it’s much easier to tuck into a purse or backpack than a head of lettuce!<br />

<strong>Why does the chocolate have more protein?</strong> The serving size for chocolate is 8 grams higher than for greenberry. The extra ingredients added for the chocolate blend (mostly chocolate powder and cocoa powder) add an additional 2 grams of protein for the serving size.<br />

<strong>Is it safe for people with diabetes?</strong><br />
Since needs vary for each person with diabetes, it is recommended to check with your doctor first. However, since Shakeology is a low-caloric meal replacement, with a lower glycemic index than most meals, it should be acceptable for most people with diabetes.<br />

<strong>Can I give it to my kids? Is it safe for kids?</strong><br />
Since the needs of every child may vary, please check with your pediatrician. However, since Shakeology is a healthy drink with low sugar and a wide variety of nutrients, it is a much healthier option than many other drinks or snacks on the market and should be appropriate for most children over the age of 6. You may want to start out with a smaller serving size until you are sure of the child’s tolerance. It is not recommended to give as a meal replacement for children younger than six years old without first checking with your pediatrician.<br />

Shakeology should only be taken by pregnant women and nursing mothers under the direction of their physicians.<br />

<strong>Is it safe for celiacs or people with gluten allergies? It says gluten- free on the package, but the label lists wheatgrass and kamut grass as ingredients.</strong><br />
After extensive testing, Shakeology has been found to be 100% gluten-free. As such, Shakeology should be an appropriate snack or meal for people suffering from gluten allergies or celiac disease. However, since individual allergies and conditions vary, it is recommended to test a small dose first before proceeding with a full serving.<br />
<br />
<strong>Does Shakeology interfere with any medication?</strong> While Shakeology has been tested as safe for most people, you should always consult with your physician if you are on any medication (especially heart medication, since Shakeology contains Vitamin K1) or if you have any other unique health conditions.<br />

<strong>Can someone with lactose-intolerance drink Shakeology even though it has 15g of whey protein (which is derived from milk)?</strong><br />
Because needs vary for each person with lactose-intolerance, it is recommended you check with your doctor first. However, the whey protein in Shakeology is whey protein isolate , which is over 90% pure protein leaving only 10% of the ingredient, or 1.5g, where some lactose can be found. In addition, Shakeology is loaded with digestive enzymes—and Lactase is one of them. Lactase is the enzyme that breaks down lactose and is found in over- the-counter products like Lactaid ®. So, given that Shakeology is made with whey protein isolate and includes Lactase means that it may have a higher likelihood of being acceptable for most people with lactose-intolerance. It’s recommended that someone with lactose-intolerance start with a small dose of Shakeology, monitor their body’s reaction and, if tolerant, slowly build up to a full dose or take a half-dose at two separate times during the day.<br />
<br />
<strong>I’ve tried Shakeology and seem to be experiencing digestive discomfort. Does this mean Shakeology doesn’t work for me?</strong><br />
Not at all! For some people, experiencing digestive sensitivities is a normal part of the cleansing process. It just means that your body is working hard to eliminate the toxins built up in your system over several years. It will not get flushed out in one day! Help your body to clean itself out more gently by reducing your dosage to a 1⁄2 scoop once a day. Slowly build up to a 1⁄2 scoop twice per day as your tolerance increases. You may then work up to one full scoop per day. (Although it is perfectly fine to continue to use Shakeology as 2 small snacks (at a 1⁄2 scoop each) throughout your day.) For some people, this process could take as long as three months. Since every body reacts differently, if you continue to experience digestive problems at lower dosages, please consult your doctor.<br />

If you are using P90X Peak Health Formula vitamins, then only 1 serving/scoop of Shakeology is recommended per day. If you are taking any other supplements in addition to Shakeology and P90X Peak Health Formula vitamins, then watch your total intake to ensure you do not exceed Tolerable Upper Intake Levels for copper, magnesium, manganese, and zinc. The Tolerable Upper Intake Level for copper is 10mg/day, for magnesium 350 mg/day, for manganese 11 mg/day, and for zinc 40mg/day.<br />

<strong>I already have some Meal Replacement. Should I throw it out and switch to Shakeology? </strong>You don’t have to throw it out. Meal Replacement is a high-quality protein shake. Shakeology offers a wide array of nutrients on top of protein. Because Meal Replacement has higher sugar content and less fiber, a good time to use it is around the time you are exercising (Results and Recovery is also good for this purpose). Shakeology is a better option for a meal that’s at least 2 hours before a workout or 1 hour afterwards.<br />

<strong>Can I take this and Results and Recovery Formula?</strong><br />
Yes, but not together! Results and Recovery Formula should only be taken during or after exercise, when you’ve been exhausting your body’s blood sugar. At any other time, Shakeology would be your preferred option.<br />

<strong>Should I still take an omega supplement?</strong><br />
While the flax seed, chia seeds and sacha inchi in Shakeology provide some omega-3 fatty acids, it is still recommended to take the Core Omega-3TM supplement to meet your daily requirement.<br />

<strong>How about Core Cal-Mag?</strong> The recommended daily allowance of calcium is 1,200mg/day for women and 1,500mg/day for post-menopausal women. I spent all my time running and training with Vibrams.I like the flexibility of being able to use my whole foot and toes as Im running and attacking obstacles.I found they also worked well and stayed pretty strong during my ocr's as well as other trail runs. <br />

Also the weight of sneakers right after stepping in a 2 foot mud pit sucks and can slow you down, so I never really ran in sneakers for ocr. The times i did, i regretted it. I changed my trail training and ocr footwear to the Reebok All Terrain Supers. They give me everything i wanted as far as the minimulist feel, they are light wieght and brush off easy in about 2-3 steps, they transition between obstacles as easly and have drain port holes of the bottom for water drainage.<br />

These sneakers are greay going thru mudpits and climbing up/down mud hills.<br />

Although a couple of things i noticed about this sneaker is it does not do the good on concrete as far as turns and corners and definitely not good for wood. Such as running on boardwalk surfaces, planks, and ramps. Also in my opinion its not made "tough". the mesh and vinyl or whatever it is going aroung the sneaker started peeling after 1 trail run and 2 ocrs. All around a great sneaker and i give it a 8 out of 10.<br />
